Peter Diepenbrock

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where he earned a

Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Industrial Design,

Peter Diepenbrock has achieved a distinguished

professional record of accomplishment as one of New England’s most prolific

contemporary sculptors.

He has exhibited his mid-scale work locally and nationally in reputed museums and fine art galleries, has served as an Adjunct Professor at RISD, and maintains a studio practice that

specializes in large-scale public art. Some of the prominent art commissions

completed for public spaces include:

Clock Man, The Foundry Complex, Providence, RI

Transversion, The Lakewood Public Library, Lakewood, Ohio

The Ark and Yahrzeit Memorial, Temple Beth Elohim, Wellesley, Ma.

Torsion III, The University of Rhode Island, Kingston Campus

Infinity III, The Town Of East Greenwich, RI.

The 9/11 Memorial, Rhode Island State House, Providence, RI.

Peter has also completed several dozen commissions for private and business locations in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, and California.

In addition, Peter has received several awards for his design work including the Marc Harrison Award for Excellence, Best Design Award at Accent On Design, New York International

Gift Show, Excellence in Design for Dansk International, as well as multiple

Rhode Island State Fellowships in Craft, Design and Sculpture.

Past design projects include flatware for Dansk International, functional objects for The Museum of

Modern Art store, metal furnishings for Dennis Miller Associates in New York,

and the Troy Collection, founded by Peter as a collection of sculptural and

functional objects, sold through Barneys, The Nature Company, and several

hundred boutiques across the country.

The ‘Practice of Spatial Reasoning’ is how Peter describes his process

which “blends the concept development of

industrial design, a deep reverence for high craft, an architects interest in

space, place and site, a sculptor’s sense of form, a poet’s use of visual

metaphor, and an engineer’s grasp of structure.”

Peter currently resides in Jamestown, Rhode Island with his wife, and nationally recognized jewelry

designer, Didi Suydam.
